we blink or web link, You decide with your vote
WeBlink is a series of classes and curriculums designed to explore similarities and bridge gaps between tech workers and glass craft communities while exploring new avenues of thinking and making in each of them. Mashing together seemingly incongruous ideologies of craft based and idea based practices, we will create neon lights and web-server sculptures delivering custom applications. A highly visible, yet mostly abandoned tool of advertisement, neon dovetails well with the discrete, screen bound realities of the ad tech world.
WeBlink seeks to shift both makers and consumers attention towards past and present truths and realities. Questioning the current roles of "Who knows?", and "Who decides?" in the flow of our data, we will build systems that resist information and wealth centralization, and neon tubes that can be blinked or dimmed from across the globe.
As we enter into the new AI era of software development, the programmers paradigm is shifting from "how do I make this" to "what do I make". Agentic programming tools are making software development more accessible. The sculpture seen on this page serves a view of itself, and inviting users to interact once, as an instructors example of the type of server sculpture that could be made at a WeBlink class as well as an informal poll on the class's title.
